We sailed into Newcastle harbor in the morning. I think we were the first cruise ship to visit the city since Covid. The news station had a cameraman and others on the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We took a bus excursion to the Hunter Valley for a \u201chands on\u201d wine experience. \u201cFeet in\u201d would be a better description. It was fun. Jim and I won a bottle of wine!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We left the port at sunset, headed for Sydney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The local news was covering our arrival. First ship since the start of Covid in Newcastle.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Local grapes were not in season, so they put 1 case of purple California grapes in each of 2 barrels.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Off went our shoes, and into the barrel we climbed. The goat was to squish enough grapes to fill a wine bottle with juice before the other team did.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Jim and his partner had to mop up grape juice with a disposable cloth, then squeeze it into a pitcher, then pour it the juice into a wine bottle. The whole process was repeated with another couple stamping in the barrel.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
