We spent five nights at Green Turtle Bay Marina, and we loved it. It has everything! A Boat Works, a ship’s store, pristine bathroom/ shower suites, laundry, free coffee, free courtesy car, and all our new found friends. The local yacht club, on the marina grounds, welcomes loopers, and we enjoyed dinner there on our first evening. There is another little restaurant beyond the yacht club, perfect for breakfast with Matt. Patti’s 1880 Settlement has restaurants/ shops/ miniature golf, etc… We went there twice. Their 2 inch pork chops are amazing!
We had several days of rain while we were in the marina. Great time to take the courtesy car and go shopping. We even sneaked in a second trip to Red’s donut shop in Paducah. We had been there with my mother on our road trip a few weeks before. The donuts are Amazing!
When you are on the transient dock for five days, you get to know everyone. Gail, down at the end on Stylist, cut my hair for me. Cocomo, with Wayne and Vicki on board, arrived at the slip next to us for our last two nights. We had not seen them since Grafton. Martin, Jen, and Kaylee on their Carver were next to us on the other side. Matt on his Beneteau was next to them. And so on to the end of the dock where John and April and their three children (youngest is 2) had us over for a delicious pasta dinner.
We had some repair work done on the boat, and finally we were all set to head south down Kentucky Lake.
