Friday January 29 and Saturday January 30, 2016
We rented a car first thing on Friday. Jim was on a mission to find the right alternator belt for our Balmar. His cousin Jan had driven Jim around to several places the previous afternoon, with no luck. Jim and I drove to the Yanmar representative on Stock Island, with no luck. Finally Jim was able to call Balmar Alternators and made arrangements to overnight ship 3 alternator belts to our marina. With that taken care of, we were free for the rest of the day.
Our friends Mike and Marylin had a package at our marina. Sweet Pea was anchored in Newfound Harbor. They were thinking about coming to shore and taking the bus to Key West to pick up their package. Agh! A chance to do a good deed! We picked up the package and drove about 40 minutes to Kiki’s restaurant. Mike and Marylin dinghied in and met is there. Fun seeing them again and delicious lunch.
One of my favorite things about Key West is the Tropic movie theatre. It was built in an old carpet warehouse. Beautiful design, Art Deco marquee, and a statue of Marylin Monroe out front! They were playing all the major movies up for Academy Awards. We went to the street craft show, then to the movies. Dinner at Blue Heaven. We also had a lovely evening with Jan and Lucy on another night. Fun!
