Whenever we are in the Miami area, we make a special point of visiting Robert Is Here, for their fabulous best in the world milkshakes. I had strawberry key lime. Jim had passion fruit, and then a 2nd of some other exotic fruit. Fabulous. The fruit stand is at the corner in Homestead, on the road to the Everglades National Park.
We flew home on Wednesday for Jim’s 50th reunion from Friend’s School. Jim was one of several “lifers” there, who had attended from kindergarten thru 12th grade. Fun to see everyone! We attended a class on chocolate that 3rd graders take at the school. After a taste test, rating lemon, arugula, potato chips, and chocolate, we learned about fair trade practices. Apparently the 3rd graders convinced the 6th graders not to go to Hershey Park for a field trip, because Hershey’s will not give up using child labor. Very interesting class. In a lull of the reunion schedule, we also toured the Fire Museum in Towson. Neat place! Run by one of Jim’s classmates.
Soon enough, we were flying back to Florida with a stash of Angel’s fried chicken, roast beef, and salads. Frozen blocks of sausage make great cold packs for the trip!
On our last night in Miami, we drove out to Crandon Park on Key Biscayne for a picnic dinner and swim. Later, our friend Julie joined us on our boat for dessert. Fun to see her!
