Thursday, November 17, 2022. We arrived at the port of Jakarta in the early morning. I was very impressed when our ship backed a long way into our slip, with the help of thrusters and tugs.
We received a wonderful greeting as we entered the terminal, dancers and musicians!
Our first bus excursion (Sunda Kelapa and Jakarta) was supposed to be for 8 hours, but we left at 8:30am, and returned late at 6:45pm. We jumped on our 2nd bus excursion (Jakarta night walk) at 6:45pm (no time even for restroom break), and returned to the ship at midnight! Long day, but it was a great day.

Our bus had to park farther away and we had to walk around the barbed wire and thru some muddy spots to get to the museum.The puppet museum in the old part of JakartaShadow puppets Our 2nd tour was a Jakarta night walk. Our bus dropped us off on a busy street that was lined with street food stands. We were in groups of 7 or 8 plus our guide. How would you like your cobra?We passed on the cobras. Apparently some like to chop the head off the snake, and drink the blood. No thank you.Everyone (except me) tried the durian fruit.Street foodWe had goat satay, chicken satay, and beef meatballs with noodles. It was good!Our last stop was the Cloud lounge on the 49th floor of a sleek office buildingwhat a contrast with our experience on the street.
